Dearest book lovers,

While we love a good novel that has us stuck snuggling in comfort, there is nothing more exciting than reading a celebrity autobiography that reveals the ‘real’ person behind who is seen on the screen.

Some memoirs include tragic childhood stories that teach one to learn from mentorship and not mistakes, then there are memoirs that are simultaneously turbulent and beautiful.

Some are funny, often surprisingly relatable, and just as importantly these candid books always seem to spark inspiration in their readers.

Hello! Magazine thought whether readers are interested in the lives of British TV celebrities like Kate Garraway and Philip Schofield or A-Listers like Drew Barrymore and Michelle Obama, they would have found something for everyone.

However, Our Today took to listing the top 10 of the best celebrity memoirs to be placed on your bookshelf or desktop.

Trust me!

Kate Garraway, The Power of Hope

Kathryn Mary Garraway is an English broadcaster and journalist, who opted to write a new memoir detailing the last 12 months for the Good Morning Britain presenter, as her husband Derek Draper (English former lobbyist and political advisor) battled COVID-19 in intensive care.

Reportedly, she was told he wouldn’t survive. But Derek is now back home and is thought to be the UK’s longest-fighting coronavirus patient.

Only if the world was as hopeful as Kathryn.

Sarah Harding, Hear Me Out

English singer, model and actress, Sarah Harding rose to fame in late 2002, when she successfully auditioned for the ITV reality series Popstars: The Rivals.

The programme announced that Harding had won a place as a member of the girl group, Girls Aloud.

Known as the ‘wild’ member of Girls Aloud, Sarah Harding has always worn her heart on her sleeve.

Following her breast cancer diagnosis last year, she’s written this memoir to show the real Sarah behind all of the partying and popstar glamour.

Cancer is no joke, so to have had to sit and write about the journey must have been a bitter sweet, yet courageous moment for the talented Harding.

Philip Schofield, Life’s What You Make It

Phillip Bryan Schofield is an English television presenter who works for ITV. He is considered an uplifting, positive and honest man.

Philip Schofield’s bestselling memoir tells all from his early life and his big break into TV production, to his working relationship with Holly Willoughby (English television presenter, model and author) and his coming out story in early February 2020.

It’s vulnerable at times to share difficult details of one’s personal life, but I bet this memoir is full of funny anecdotes, too. I mean, would you expect any less?

Regardless, life is indeed what you make it. Imagine having a full-blown marriage that led to child rearing only to find out you’re truly attracted to the opposite sex later in life.

It takes courage ‘coming out’, and it also means Schofield’s relationship with his wife is one hell of a mountain that can’t be moved. The couple is still married to this day.

Way to go Schofield, for living the best of both worlds.

Michelle Obama, Becoming

Michelle Obama is not only an American attorney and author who served as the First Lady of the United States from 2009 to 2017.

She was also the first African-American woman to serve in this position who is married to the 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama.

If you’re looking for inspiration, there is no better place to find it but by reading Becoming, an award-winning memoir, might I add.

The memoir, published in 2018 to critical acclaim, it’s a deeply personal account of her life growing up in Chicago, her university days and her time spent serving as the First Lady of the United States.

This book might just inspire you to become a senator or member of parliament.

Reese Witherspoon, Whiskey in a Teacup

Laura Jeanne Reese Witherspoon is an American actress, producer, entrepreneur and now author.

Witherspoon pays respect to her southern heritage, where she was raised in Louisiana, in this part memoir, part lifestyle guide.

The memoir is a collection of personal stories, beauty hacks and party hosting tips, with some of her grandmother Dorothea’s best tasty recipes thrown in for good measure.

I swear I will never forget Legally Blonde and how it inspired me to be my true self today. The classy Elle Woods advises having whiskey in a tea cup.

Priyanka Chopra, Unfinished

Priyanka Chopra, who married Nick Jonas in 2018, is an Indian actress, singer, and film producer.

Priyanka is also the winner of the Miss World 2000 pageant; she is one of India’s highest-paid and most popular entertainers.

From growing up in India to winning the global beauty pageants that launched her acting career and becoming one of the most famous women in the world, Priyanka’s memoir has a lot to pack in. It’s honest, funny and a real eye-opener.

It also gives off this mysterious vibe, as if there is a part two to Unfinished. Got to read!

Drew Barrymore, Wildflower

Drew Blythe Barrymore is an American is super multi-hyphenated and has now advanced to becoming an author. Just wow!

Reportedly, growing up in Hollywood, Drew’s childhood was unconventional to say the least.

In this collection of uplifting personal essays, she touches on this and the much happier life she’s built from it today.

Nadiya Hussain, Finding My Voice

British TV chef, author and television presenter Nadiya Jamir Hussain rose to fame after winning the sixth series of BBC’s The Great British Bake Off in 2015.

Since she began to explore her journalistic skills, which led to her writing several books as well as columns for publications like The Times and BBC Good Food.

According to her revealing memoir, she writes openly about what it was like to grow up as a female second-generation British-Bangladeshi and the mental health struggles she’s faced since childhood.

Today, Hussain has shared her secret to identifying, accepting and finding who she really is, a Queen!

Tina Brown, The Vanity Fair Diaries

Hello! Magazine recommends this book if you’re interested in celebrity culture and what goes on behind the scenes at a glossy magazine, you’ll love this memoir by Tina Brown, the former editor-in-chief of Vanity Fair. Based on her personal diaries, she shares everything that went down in New York and Hollywood in the 80s – it’s seriously juicy.

Tina Brown, formally known as Christina Hambley Brown, also wrote The Diana Chronicles, a biography of Diana, Princess of Wales

Matthew McConaughey, Greenlights

The very humorous and out spoken, Matthew David McConaughey is not only an American actor and producer, but an Oscar winner.

Matthew McConaughey’s book, Greenlights, is an honest account of the lessons he’s learnt in life.

From his tough childhood in Texas to his pursuit of acting, through his old diaries he writes candidly about his failures and successes and what he’s taken from them.

Honestly, what to expect when reading a book like this?

McConaughey seems like himself at all times in his movies, there is this distinct feature about him that highlights positivity and realness, but, then again, he is a very good actor, so who knows. LOL

Happy reading!
