18-y-o killed during break-in at Smokey Vale family home

An 18-year-old sixth-form student from a well-known Kingston high school was shot and killed early Monday morning during a pre-dawn home invasion at her family’s residence in Smokey Vale, St Andrew.

According to police reports, the incident occurred around 1:40 am, when an intruder broke into the home and began ransacking the premises.

The teenager, who was at home with relatives at the time, reportedly exited her room and came face-to-face with the intruder. She was shot in the head before the assailant fled the scene.

She was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Superintendent Randy Sweeney, head of the St Andrew North Police Division, confirmed the incident and is urging anyone with information to contact the police or the Constant Spring Criminal Investigation Branch at (876) 924-1421.
