
Twenty Jamaicans will be amongst the galaxy of stars that will converge on the newly laid National Stadium track as the much-anticipated inaugural three-day Grand Slam Track series starts on Friday.
The Grand Slam Track event will feature a total of 96 competitors, consisting of 48 “Racers” and 48 “Challengers” from across 22 countries competing in various track events, including sprints, hurdles and distance races.
Up to 10 Olympic champions and a number of World champions will be on show including Sydney McLaughlin-Lerone, Marileidy Paulino, Emmanuel Wanyonyi, Gabby Thomas, Jasmine Camacho-Quinn, Dalilah Muhammad, Alexis Holmes, Fred Kerley, Salwa Eid Naser, Marco Arop, Alison Dos Santos and Quincy Hall to name a few.
Jamaica’s Olympic champion Hansle Parchment and Omar McLeod will be in action along with Oblique Seville, Ackeem Blake, Ruschell Clayton, Roshawn Clarke, Ackera Nugent, Natoya Goule-Toppin, Nickisha Pryce and the improving Zandrion Barnes who could really make some noise and announce himself to the world.

There will be four Grand Slam events overall and after leaving Jamaica they move on to Miami (May 2-4); Philadelphia (May 30-June 1) and Los Angeles (June 27-29).
Some of the biggest names in the sport will be hunting their share of the total US$12.5m in prize money.
Each winner this weekend will walk away with US$100,000 (J$15.7m), with second taking US$50,000 (J$7.85m) and even last place picking up US$10,000 (J$1.57m).
Grand Slam Track will be broadcast in 189 countries and territories worldwide.
