Outgoing, confident and hardworking are just a few of the many adjectives to describe the vibrant personality of Suana Callum. She is a 20-year-old model, makeup artiste, runway etiquette coach, owner of her own fragrance ‘Influitive’, professional GoKart racer and the title holder of Miss Supreme Caribbean 2023.
Among Suana’s many accomplishments, she is also a humanitarian who created a foundation to give support to persons experiencing challenges in providing themselves with the various necessities.
“The foundation was created solely from what I want for myself and for the country. We cater for the disabled, the elderly, children and young adults who are out there and can’t get a job. We try our best to provide for them,” she told Our Today.

The foundation, called ‘The Suana Callum Multifaceted Foundation’, was launched on October 30 of this year and aims to cover people from eight parishes.
“We are planning to go out this Christmas to give back as much as possible. We are aiming for eight parishes for this year. Next year January, as well, because it’s going to be an often thing. It’s not just a once per year thing,” she said.
She also noted that the foundation is currently accepting donations such as clothes, shoes, blankets and non-perishable food items.

She also outlined that her foundation not only focuses on individuals but on animals too.
“I am obsessed with dogs. So, if we see dogs on the street, we make a call and I know a vet who is also affiliated with the project, so he would get them into shelters,” she added.
She explained that her passion for giving back to others was developed from a tender age.
“Even back when I was younger, I used to tutor persons in Physics and Chemistry. Helping them to ace their exams brought me great joy. Even up to now, helping people who cannot afford certain stuff, seeing them on the streets begging, I try my best whenever I have to just give back. I like to see people happy. When people are happy, I am happy,” she said.

Suana grew up in St Ann with her mom and younger brother. She stated that she had an active childhood that was fun and experimental.
“I remember going to the beach with my mom, where there were fishermen. She used to go there and buy fish every week. I also used to have friends and we would go to the park. I mostly went to the beach, so that got me obsessed with the ocean and that also led to me becoming a scuba diver,” she said.
She noted that her greatest inspiration comes from her mother, Suen Comrie, who was also active in pageantry.
“My mom was a part of Miss Universe in 1994, so growing up [I used to see her] dressed up in her heels because she was an air traffic controller. When she got home or when she was getting ready, I would always dress up in her heels and walk in it until I basically fell in love with it. From day one she has been my number one inspiration for sure,” she said.

Comrie said: “As a mother I am very proud and astonished by Suana’s achievement so far and I know there is a lot more for her to accomplish. Suana is very humble, thoughtful, caring especially for the homeless. Suana is also passionate and creative. I knew she was going to be an ambitious young lady. At the age of 2 she [was] walking in my heels, until I said to myself, as she grew older, she was going to be a model and very multi-talented.”
The proud mom added: “From I was pregnant with her I could tell because I was very hyperactive, I could not stay one place. I always had business meetings, lawn tennis and work. I was always on the go. My mom, who is now deceased, could not keep up with me. I will always say it’s what a person wants to achieve in life. If you want good, your nose has to run. It doesn’t make sense to sit down and wait on handouts.”

Suana said she was grateful for the support that she has received so far from family and the public and that she aims to continue excelling as a model and GoKart racer.
“I hope to be more than where I am now in terms of being a model. I will be travelling internationally to fashion shows, as an etiquette coach training young girls and grooming them to get to where they aspire to be. Also, I am part of the Peter Rae Karting Association, so we do train often to race internationally. I have not yet raced internationally, so one day I hope to go there,” she said.
