Some 23 post offices across the island are set to be modified to be used as National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) enrolment sites.
This announcement was made by Senator Dr Dayna Morris Dixon on Friday (July 14) during her first State of the Nation Debate in the Upper House of Parliament.
“Mr President, these National Identification and Registration Authority enrolment sites will co-exist in specially designated spaces without interfering with the services of the post offices. These modification projects bring capital investments to the Jamaica Post that it has not seen for over 40 years,” she said.
Senator Morris Dixon noted that the Government has published a request for a proposal to modify 10 post offices in addition to the Central Sorting Office and main post office.

She noted that the Government is set to publish a request for proposal to modify an additional 10 post offices by August 2023. An additional three post offices will be modified in Kingston.
“Mr President, upon completion of these projects, 24 enrolment sites will be available for Jamaicans to access the National Identification and Registration Authority services,” Senator Morris Dixon said.
