Prime Minister Andrew Holness says the New Social Housing Programme (NSHP) continues to deliver on its mandate of providing homes to needy Jamaicans, and oversaw the handover of 300 units in 2024.

“Three hundred homes, Three hundred fresh starts!” he posted on social media platform X.com. “It is still the best feeling in the world to be able to give homes to Jamaicans who need homes. To be able to change lives and give new life and direction to families is a source of great joy for me.”

“Under the New Social Housing Programme, we are making Jamaican lives that much better, and we are expanding the programme to reach and help more Jamaicans. Three hundred (300) homes were handed over, and hundreds of Jamaicans were impacted. The lives of Single mothers, families, the elderly, the poor, the sick, those with disabilities, those who suffered misfortune including fires, those who lost it all, and those who never had anything at all have all been changed,”

He expressed pride in heading a government that allowed this achievement to occur. He noted that the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) will continue delivering more homes as they “break the cycle of generational poverty and put more Jamaicans on the path to a better life.”

The NSHP was established in 2018 by Holness as the housing component of the Housing, Opportunity, Production and Employment (HOPE) programme.
