Prime Minister Andrew Holness has offered a three-million-dollar reward for information that will lead to the arrest and capture of the individuals involved in the kidnapping of Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) member and election worker Lorna Robertson.

Robertson, who has been missing for over two weeks, was abducted on the 30th of May along Hope Road in St. Andrew. Video footage shows her walking down the sidewalk that morning, being followed from a distance by a man. At the crucial moment, a black minivan reversed alongside her, with Robertson’s follower quickly subduing the woman and bundling her into the vehicle before making a getaway.

Whilst speaking to Jamaica Labour Party supporters at the Stony Hill HEART Academy on the 13th of June, Holness claimed that the entire incident was a major cause for concern, and that all efforts were going to be made to bring the criminals involved to justice.

“We find it a very troubling occurrence and we do not intend to stop until we find out who are the people behind it, whoever they are connected to,” said the prime minister.

In addition to the three million dollars offered by Holness, the JLP’s caretaker for South East St. Andrew, Kevin Firth, has also offered $500,000 to ensure Robertson’s safe return, whilst urging the police to find her as soon as possible.
