Jamaica was rocked by a 4.2 magnitude earthquake, whose epicentre was recorded 21 kilometres from Kingston.

The tremor was felt about 1:27 p.m. on Tuesday, according to Google alerts.

The earthquake was mainly felt in the eastern parishes of the island.

Several persons on X, formerly known as Twitter, expressed concern that the island had experienced another earthquake almost one month after a 5.6-magnitude quake rocked the island, causing millions in infrastructure damage.

“Not again … sigh” one user wrote.

“God… Are these the warning signs? That big one is coming, isn’t it? #Earthquake mi just pray fi be able to reach to mi mother if it does,” another wrote.
