The four men fatally shot last Wednesday during an alleged armed confrontation with police along the Linstead Bypass in St Catherine have been formally identified.

The deceased are:

  • Kemar Tucker, 19, of Penwood Road.
  • Kemar Williams, 27, otherwise called ‘Johnny’, of Verma Road.
  • Dane Lewis, 34, a shopkeeper.
  • Nicholas Singh, 40, a labourer.

The incident occurred near the Rosemount roundabout after a police team intercepted a Kia motor car carrying the men.

According to police reports, the four men were being pursued in connection with the recent murder of St Catherine businessman Horace ‘Goudie’ Crossman in Guys Hill.

Police state that the men allegedly opened fire on the officers, initiating an exchange of gunfire. All four men were hit during the confrontation, while an accomplice reportedly escaped the scene.

Following the incident, the police reported that two illegal firearms were seized from the scene.

The Independent Commission of Investigation (INDECOM) and the police’s Inspectorate of Professional Standards Oversight Bureau (IPSOB) are conducting separate probes into the fatal shooting.
