49-year-old delivery driver sentenced to 10 months for smuggling cocaine

A 49-year-old delivery driver who was caught trying to smuggle $29 million worth of cocaine through the Sangster International Airport was sentenced to 10 months behind bars yesterday (June 20).

Garie Cartie Graham, a delivery driver of Thornton, St Elizabeth appeared in the St James Parish Court yesterday where he was sentenced after he pleaded guilty to charges laid against him for breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act.

Graham was caught by members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force Narcotics Division trying to board a flight to England on June Thursday (June 8) with the illegal substance tucked away in a false compartment of his luggage.

It is said to have a street value of £150,000.
