With the Easter weekend fast approaching, there are a few activities that families can do to celebrate the holiday, create new memories and strengthen their bond.

Holidays are often the only time when parents and children are free from the obligations of work and school. As such, there is the desire to take full advantage of the free time to either relax or engage in some fun activities with the family.

Since carnival is not a family-friendly event, Our Today has created a list of family-friendly activities and events happening this weekend that you and your family can enjoy.

1. Easter Egg hunt at Hope Gardens

Easter Egg Hunts are very popular in countries like the United States and Canada, and in recent times they have become popular in Jamaica.

The activity is carried out when hallowed plastic eggs containing chocolate, money or candy are hidden around a park and everyone has to go and search for them. When you find the egg, you get to keep whatever prize is inside.

This weekend, there will be an Easter Egg Hunt at the Hope Botanical Gardens on Sunday April 9. See the flyer above for details.

2. Fun Fest 2023

Fun Fest, the unique family festival will return for Easter Monday (April 10) at the Hope Gardens in Kingston.

The vent will have a kiddies zone filled with rides such a the Merry-Go-Round, Ferris Wheel and Bike Carousel. Additionally, there will be a waterpark and a family concert to close off the night with dancehall artiste Laa Lee set to perform.

Tickets can be purchased at the gate. The cost per adult is $1000, while a child three to six years old will pay $700. Toddlers two years old and under will enter for free.

3. Kite Fest 2023

The annual Ocho Rios Kite Festival is back for its second staging on the grounds of Content Gardens Sports Complex.

The festival will be held on Good Friday (April 7) and will feature kite-flying competitions, musical performances, food and craft vendors.

There will be performances from entertainers such as Laa lee, Deep Jahi, Pablo YG, Apache Kid and Sarge, Grandpa Entertain and more.

4. Church Service

Easter is a time of reflection when Christians remember the death and resurrection of Jesus.

Good Friday is the day when Jesus was crucified and died for the past, present and future sins of the world, while Easter Monday is used to celebrate his resurrection from the dead.

During this period, churches will have Easter services focused on these two activities and their significance.

5. Beach trip

Reggae Beach, Ocho Rios

A trip to the beach or river is always a perfect way to celebrate any holiday. Luckily, Jamaica is filled with several beaches that family members can go to have fun and relax.

Visiting the beach for Easter is a great way to enjoy the warm weather and relax with family and friends.
