Known for his family-friendly content on Instagram and TikTok , Manawe ‘JD’ Simpson has been entertaining Jamaicans with dancing and comedy videos usually featuring his kids.

Here are five things to know about JD.

1. He is NOT a single father

JD says a common misconception people have about him is that he’s a single father raising his kids on his own. JD has been together with the mother of his kids for the past 20 years.

“I am an active father, not a single father. The only reason my partner isn’t in my videos is because she’s reserved and doesn’t want to be,” said the content creator

2. Big lover of singing

JD actually prefers singing to dancing, but claims that he lacks the skill for it.

“I actually love singing more than dancing, but I cannot sing to save my life. I am a big bad shower performer, regularly on tour in the bathroom,” he said jokingly.

3. Afraid of cats

Due to a traumatic incident with a cat in his younger years, JD developed a fear of cats.

4.Social media is not his main job

Contrary to popular belief, JD’s main job does not involve dancing or social media. As much as he would love to create content full-time, he works as a manager at a call centre in Kingston.

5. Quick to defend people

JD says that it’s in his nature to always ensure those around him are protected and feel safe, despite not being the type of person who would do that for himself.
