50 Cent, Shaquille O’ Neal and Kenya Barris team up to purchase BET

Former American professional basketball player Shaquille O’Neal, American rapper 50 Cent and American filmmaker Kenya Barris are reportedly partnering to purchase the Black Entertainment Television (BET) cable channel.

According to reports from TMZ, 50 Cent and Kenya visited the Paramount offices in New York last week to discuss the partnership.

The three men are set to go up against American actor and filmmaker Tyler Perry and Byron Allen Folks who are both set to pool funds together to purchase the company.

Another prominent business mogul, P Diddy, has also expressed his interest in purchasing the company.

The company which targets an African American audience is aimed at empowering the black community and promoting black culture.

BET is owned by the CBS Entertainment Group unit of Paramount Global has offices in New York City, Los Angeles, and Chicago, and was formerly headquartered in Washington, D.C.
