Former Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) councillor and Justice of the Peace for Portland Patrick Lee has died after a prolonged illness.

While the nature of his illness was not revealed, reports are that Lee recently underwent a triple bypass heart surgery.

Portland Western Member of Parliament, Daryl Vaz who worked with Lee described the former councillor as a son of Portland and a patriot despite his medical condition.

“On behalf of Ann Marie and the entire Jamaica Labour Party Portland Family, I extend sincere condolences to Patrick’s family and by extension to the entire parish of Portland on his passing,” said Vaz.

“Patrick flew the JLP flag for decades and contested elections in East Portland in 2011 before our political fortunes changed largely due to him. He represented the Rio Grande Valley as Councillor between 1981 -1986, flying the banner of the JLP proudly,” added Vaz.
