The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) has initiated an urgent probe into a road rage incident in Kingston which escalated into a licensed firearm holder threateningly flashing what appears to be a pistol at a woman and her children.
Our Today, which has obtained a copy of the now-viral video, was unable to determine an exact date for the disturbing gun-toting conflict, however, the one-minute clip began trending on Sunday, February 28.
On inspection, our newsroom is certain the incident took place along Old Hope Road in Kingston.
The police, in a statement on Monday, said it commenced investigations into the video and is asking the viral clip maker as well as other witnesses to contact their offices immediately.
It is unclear what precipitated between the man and woman, but the distressing video begins with both drivers, heading west along Old Hope Road just outside the Hope Gospel Assembly Church, before coming to a stop and trading more than just words.
Shortly after stopping beside the male driver, the man is seen brandishing his firearm, which triggers conflicting emotions within the receiving motorcar.
The woman’s children, particularly the young boy in the passenger seat, pleaded with their mother to just let the man go—but triggered by the thinly veiled threat, she gave little room.
“Fyah it nuh? Fyah it [expletive deleted]. See da bwoy yah? ‘im point ‘im gun after me in front a mi daughter and mi pickney dem. See it deh! Mi get ‘im licence plate numbah,” the woman said.
As mentioned by Our Today, the video has gone viral on social media platforms Facebook and Twitter, with scores of Jamaicans expressing shock at how the incident went from one extreme to the next.
