Jamaica receives first Caribbean vaccine shipment from COVAX

The World Health Organization’s (WHO) COVAX Facility has delivered its first shipment of AstraZeneca vaccines to the Caribbean, with a batch of 14,400 doses that have safely landed in Kingston on Monday (March 15).

Health Minister Dr Christopher Tufton, who was on hand to receive the vaccines, expressed his gratitude to the United Nations (UN) on the tarmac of the Norman Manley International Airport.

It is the second such shipment in a week, following the gift of 50,000 doses from the Government of India last Monday.
