The Government of Jamaica has partnered with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) for the creation of a vaccination management system to facilitate the registration and scheduling of vaccination appointments.
The digital health platform is slated to become operational in early April and will be accessible to members of the public via the Ministry of Health and Wellness website, the regional health authorities or designated call centres.
PARTNERSHIP A BOOST TO VACCINATION PLAN
The partnership was formalised during a virtual signing ceremony held on Tuesday (March 16).
According to, Health and Wellness Minister Dr Christopher Tufton, the partnership is a boost to the Government’s vaccination plan, the inoculation efforts for which began on Wednesday (March 10).
Thanks to the system, in short order persons will be able to make appointments and be notified of their prospective vaccination dates.

UNICEF Jamaica Country Representative Mariko Kagoshima, said the digital health platform will aid in the efficiency and equitability of the vaccination rollout efforts.
“The digital health platform will facilitate the pre-registration for vaccination according to the prioritisation set by the Government, notification of vaccination to the users, collection of critical vaccination data by individual and demographic grouping and reporting capability of real-time analysis of aggregated data, along with record keeping of vaccines given to [an] individual recipient,” she said.
Tufton also expressed that, by the time the country receives the additional supplies of COVID-19 vaccines, “we would have had the platform in place (well in advance) to make an efficient administration of the vaccines”.
