A new mural has been installed over the gully on South Camp Road (at the corner of Harbour Street) in downtown Kingston and features environmental themes and a strident message – ‘No Dumping!’

Lead artist Charl Baker says: “As an artist, a big part of my personal mantra has been ‘reduce, reuse, recycle’. I have always been cognizant of trying to reduce my carbon footprint. Each one of us can play our part to make a difference in the way we treat our environment and show we care by being the change we want to see.”

Fabian Thomas, an artist from the adjoining community of Rae Town, also worked on the mural, which was created as part of the Paint the City initiative led by arts nonprofit Kingston Creative and completed in time for Earth Day which falls on April 22.

The mural is sponsored by the GraceKennedy Foundation, ICD Holdings, the Multicare Foundation and Sherwin Williams Limited.
