Rapper DMX in grave condition after drug overdose

Troubled rap legend DMX is reportedly in critical condition after suffering a drug overdose Friday night (April 2).

According to gossip website TMZ, sources close to the rapper, whose real name is Earl Simmons, the overdose occurred at his home around 11 p.m.

TMZ also said it learnt rapper suffered a heart attack during the incident.

‘SOME BRAIN ACTIVITY’

DMX was taken to a hospital in White Plains, New York and is in the critical care unit, where TMZ said it was told he was showing signs of “some brain activity”.

Doctors have reportedly indicated he might not survive.

DMX, who shot to fame in the late 1990s, was the cornerstone of the Ruff Ryders hip hop label and was the first artiste to have his first two albums debut at #1 on the Billboard charts in the same year.

Over the years, his career was marred by numerous run ins with the police and drug problems he had been suffering even before he became famous.
