Cricket West Indies President Ricky Skerritt said it is an honour to serve as another term after he and Vice President Dr Kishore Shallow today (April 11) returned unopposed to the leadership positions of the regional governing body.

The Annual General Meeting and elections had originally been scheduled to be held virtually on March 28, but was postponed until today after the shareholder representatives from Barbados and Guyana failed to show up depriving the CWI of achieving a quorum of nine members as required by the CWI constitution.

The two territories had claimed that they did not receive the audited financial accounts of the CWI in a timely manner before the AGM was scheduled to be convened.

However, at today’s AGM Skerritt and Shallow were given the opportunity to serve for a second term.

“I am humbled and deeply honored to be re-elected to serve as CWI President for a second term,” said Skerritt, whose leadership was briefly challenged by former Secretary of the Guyana Cricket Board, Anand Sanasie.

Sanasie’s challenge was eventually made redundant after his administration of the Guyana Cricket Board were swept from power on March 29.

“I take the responsibility to lead the Board of this prestigious organization, most seriously. We have much unfinished work to do, and we renew our pledge to work untiringly to help achieve sustainable improvement, both on and off the field, for West Indies cricket,” Skerritt concluded.

Meanwhile, CWI Vice President said expressed gratitude for being able to continue to serve regional cricket.

“I am again grateful for the continued support of the member representatives for Ricky and myself. This re-election is a victory for West Indies cricket as we continue on the path of growing the game across the region, and achieving good outcomes on all fronts and at all levels,” he said.

In addition to the election for President and Vice President, the following persons were duly elected as Member Directors of CWI.

From the Barbados Cricket Association, Conde Riley and Calvin Hope, who was running as Sanasie’s vice president.

From the Guyana Cricket Board, newly elected president Bissoondyal Singh and Hilbert Foster.

Wilford Heaven and Dr Donovan Bennett are the directors from the Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA) while Enoch Lewis and Leon Rodney are the directors representing the Leeward Islands Cricket Board.

Long-serving president of the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board Azim Bassarath and Arjoon Ramlal are the directors representing that territory. Last but not least, Julian Charles and Dwain Gill are the representatives for the Windward Islands Cricket Board.
