Days after being signed, details of the settlement agreed on by the Jamaica College (JC) and ex-principal Ruel Reid have been made public.

A statement from the JC Trust reports the disgraced former administrator-turned-politician was paid J$23.3 million to part ways with the Old Hope Road-based high school.

The JC Trust’s revelation confirmed estimates by Education Minister Fayval Williams on Tuesday, as the government ministry provided $16.1 million. The balance of $7.2 million was paid in full by the trust.

In a joint statement by Reid and the school board, the 54-year-old Balaclava native resigned as principal on Saturday, coinciding with the expiration of the former minister’s five-year special leave.
