

The Sunshine Girls is off to a good start following their first match at the 2023 Netball World Cup in Cape Town, South Africa, after securing a 105 to 25 victory on Friday (July 28) over Sri Lanka.
Jamaica’s Sunshine Girls got off to a fine start during Friday’s match with a 26 to 5-point lead in the first quarter of the match.
The women maintained their momentum throughout the match, keeping the South Asian women at arm’s length after securing a 75-point lead ahead of Sri Lanka with 18 points.

Sunshine Girls captain and dominant goal shooter, Janiele Fowler managed to score 42 of 43 attempts while Romelda Aieken-George scored 33 of 34 attempts. Rebeka Robinson secured 15 of some 21 attempts while Shanice Beckford 15 of 19 attempts.
Defending champions New Zealand is also off to a good start in their preliminary match with a 76 to 27 win over Jamaica’s Caribbean counterparts, Trinidad and Tobago.
The women are set to go up against South Africa on July 30.
