Amazon has announced that starting in early 2024, Prime Video shows and movies will include limited advertisements.
The company made the announcement on Friday, September 22, on its official blog site.
The goal is to have significantly fewer ads than traditional linear TV and other streaming TV providers. This new feature will be introduced in the U.S., U.K., Germany, and Canada initially, followed by France, Italy, Spain, Mexico, and Australia later in the year. Importantly, the current price of Prime membership will remain unchanged.
Additionally, Amazon will offer an ad-free option for an additional $2.99 per month for U.S. Prime members, with pricing for other countries to be revealed at a later date. Prime members will receive advance notification via email about the introduction of ads and details on how to opt for the ad-free version if desired.
Amazon Prime continues to deliver incredible value to its members, with a wide range of benefits, including fast and free delivery, exclusive entertainment, exclusive deals, ad-free music, prescription savings, grocery benefits, gaming perks, reading material, and more.
