Meta has announced a wave of new AI experiences across its suite of applications and devices, including AI stickers, assistants, characters, and editors.

Over the next month, users will have the power to effortlessly generate customised stickers by using text prompts for their chats and stories on WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram, and Facebook Stories. Users will also be able to use AI-powered image editing tools to edit images and backgrounds using text-based prompts. Images created by these tools will be clearly marked to prevent any confusion with human-generated content.

Meta is also announcing its own conversational assistant that is designed to be a lifelike companion of ‘Meta AI’ available on WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram, and soon on Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses and Quest 3. Powered by a custom model incorporating Llama 2 technology and Meta’s latest large language model (LLM) research, it will be able to provide real-time, up-to-date information and AI assistance.

Alongside Meta AI, users will have access to 28 more AI characters on WhatsApp, Messenger, and Instagram, each with unique personalities and interests. Some of these AIs are portrayed by cultural icons and influencers, including Snoop Dogg, Tom Brady, Kendall Jenner, and Naomi Osaka. These AIs will be gradually rolled out in beta in the United States, with plans to add more characters in the coming weeks.
