Dancehall artiste Gully Bop passed away at the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH) on Monday after suffering from a kidney disease.

The artiste, whose real name is Robert Lee Malcolm, was admitted to the hospital on multiple occasions where he was receiving treatment for the disease.

Popular social media personality and humanitarian Donna Growe, also known as ‘Aunty Donna’, had pleaded with the public and members of the entertainment fraternity in August of this year to provide support for the Body Specialist artiste, who was struggling to keep up with medical expenses. At the time, she said Bop’s health was deteriorating.

Gully Bop rose from homelessness to fame in 2014 after some of his musical performances were recorded and uploaded to social media platforms. Since then, he has released singles Hope and PrayBruk N’Ave No Money, and Who She Want?
