X, formerly known as Twitter, has begun the rollout of Grok, Elon Musk’s promised artificial intelligence (AI) powered competitor to ChatGPT that can use real-time information.

Grok, unlike other popular chatbots, is designed to inject humour while answering questions, drawing from real-time knowledge through X into its responses and can also suggest follow-up questions.

Subscribers who paid US$16 a month or US$22 via the app for a blue checkmark in the US can now experience the unique feature of being roasted by xAI’s premier generative AI chatbot.

Premium+ subscribers can now seamlessly integrate Grok into their digital lives, finding it in the side menu on web platforms, and the latest update of iOS, and Android. For added convenience, on iOS and Android, users have the option to add Grok to their bottom menu for swift and easy access.

X CEO Linda Yaccarino welcomed users to the world of Grok, dubbing it “the ultimate ride or die” in a post that raised eyebrows for its lack of clarity. Yaccarino, a vocal supporter of Elon Musk’s anti-woke stance, emphasised the commitment behind Grok’s design.

Musk, in his own words, has expressed that training AI to be ‘woke’ is dangerous.
