The Jamaica National Group has launched its first JN Circle in the United Kingdom.

The network of community members was launched recently at the JN Bank UK community branch in Brixton, South London.

JN Circle members are empowered by the Jamaica National Group to improve lives and build communities.

The JN Circle UK team includes 10 young professionals who are committed to advocacy and ‘building community’.

JN CIRCLE UK TO HOST EVENTS, WORKSHOPS

In their inaugural year, the JN Circle UK team will focus on improving financial knowledge and capability through a series of events and workshops. They will also partner with Money A&E – a social enterprise that delivers financial workshops in schools.

The JN UK Circle team has committed to supporting five financial school workshops with Money A&E
in 2022.

Zoie Dash, a JN Circle UK member, said: “JN Circle is a great way for young people to preserve, acknowledge and learn more about our Caribbean heritage, but also build knowledge together, as a community, on how to improve our financial wealth from an early age.”

The launch event featured guest speaker Makala Green, Britain’s first black female chartered financial planner, who shared advice about how to plan and build financial wealth and independence from an early age.

“JN Money has proudly served the Caribbean community in the UK for the past 32 years, and we are committed to ensuring the next generation is equipped with financial knowledge and opportunities to support their goals and ambitions.”

Horace Hines, general manager of JN Money Services

Green is the author of The Money Edit – a straight-talking, jargon-free guide to help people make smart financial choices at every stage in life – no matter their age or background.

Also addressing the launch event was Horace Hines, general manager of JN Money Services, who reinforced his commitment to the UK market.

“The JN Circle initiative is a great programme for young people. JN Money has proudly served the Caribbean community in the UK for the past 32 years, and we are committed to ensuring the next generation is equipped with financial knowledge and opportunities to support their goals and ambitions,” Hines said.

JN Circle was launched in Jamaica in 2019 and is currently led by the philanthropic arm of the JN Group, the JN Foundation. Built on the concept of mutuality, the JN Foundation gives back to communities in Jamaica and across the Jamaican Diaspora by providing financial and technical support to sustain a variety of projects and programmes.

JN CIRCLE EXTENSION TO DIASPORA DELIGHTS

Claudine Allen, general manager of the JN Foundation in Jamaica, shared her delight in seeing the JN Circle extend to the Diaspora.

“I am extremely proud to witness the growth of the JN Circle network since its inception. We have 16 Circle chapters in Jamaica, and our vision was always to extend the network overseas. The Diaspora is extremely important to the development of Jamaica, and it is important we stay connected and committed to supporting the development of our people in these markets,” Allen said.

The JN Circle is a network of members and customers of The Jamaica National Group.

It allows local members and customers who share JN’s values to take action aimed at improving outcomes for themselves and their communities.
