500 pounds of ganja seized in St Elizabeth operation

One man has been arrested and charged in connection to the seizure of 500 pounds of ganja during an operation in Slipe and Clandestine districts, St Elizabeth.

He is 38-year-old Alton Mcpherson, a farmer from Slipe District. Mcpherson was charged with possession of and dealing in ganja.

Reports are that on January 31, detectives assigned to the Area 3 Narcotics Division conducted a search in Slipe District. A portion of contraband was found in a house belonging to Mcpherson. Another portion was later found in bushes in Clandestine District.

Mcpherson was arrested and charged following a question-and-answer session in the presence of his attorney.

His court date is being finalised.
