Scotiabank Jamaica makes new upper management appointments

Scotiabank Jamaica has appointed Dayne Bucknor and Christopher Samuels to two new management roles, which took effect on Thursday (February 1).

The company, in a statement, advised that Bucknor was promoted to the role of director of strategic and business analytics for its Caribbean North & Central division.

Bucknor has over 16 years’ experience in the banking industry and has an adept track record of leading outstanding and diverse teams. Having joined Scotiabank’s operations unit in 2006, he has since gone on to several progressively senior roles; his most recent being district vice president where he managed over 14 branches. 

Bucknor is a graduate of Florida International University where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and Master’s in International Business.

As for Samuels, he has been promoted to the role of regional director for Jamaica Retail District B.

Samuels has 20 plus years’ experience in the banking industry, joining Scotiabank in February 2000 as a teller at the Sam Sharpe Branch in Montego Bay. He has since progressed to assume more senior roles with the bank his most recent being branch manager at the Scotiabank Centre. 

Samuels is a results driven leader, placing high emphasis on both team engagement and customer satisfaction while consistently delivering exceptional results. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University College of the Caribbean (UCC) and is also a qualified computer programmer, who is passionate about digital enhancement. 

In addition, Samuels is currently pursuing his Master’s in Banking and Finance at the Mona School of Business.
