

ATOMICA has clinched the ‘Horse of the Year’ title for the second consecutive year, marking her dominance in the equestrian world.
The announcement was made on Tuesday (February 20).
ATOMICA’s performance throughout the year firmly positioned her as the frontrunner for the title, a decision endorsed by a 15-member committee comprising media distinguished figures and Caymanas Park.
Her remarkable achievements include securing victory in five out of seven races, catapulting her earnings to an impressive $6,346,650.
Under the expert guidance of trainer Gary Subratie, and adorned in the striking black and yellow silks of Oakridge Farm led by Donald Wehby, ATOMICA emerged victorious in prestigious events such as The Labour Day Trophy, The Clovis Metcalfe Trophy, The Legal Light Trophy, The Menudo, and the Jamaica Cup. This remarkable feat solidified her status as Champion 4-Year-Old & Up, Champion Stayer Overall, and Champion Local Bred Overall.

Bred by Karl Samuda and meticulously groomed by Errol Thomas, Sean P. Wright, and Lindel Bennett, ATOMICA’s success reverberated throughout the racing circuit, leaving competitors in awe.
In a closely contested race, ROUGH ENTRY, and ABILITY claimed the first and second runner-up positions respectively. ROUGH ENTRY, the Mouttet Mile hero, clinched the title of Champion Middle Distance Performer overall and Champion Foreign Bred. Meanwhile, ABILITY, owned and trained by Patrick Lynch, showcased prowess in The Jamaica Derby and the Mouttet Mile, earning recognition as Champion 3-Year-Old overall.
The accolades didn’t end there, with INTRESTNTIMESAHEAD securing the title of Champion 2-Year-Old overall and SHE’S MY DESTINY being hailed as Champion Sprinter overall, further illuminating the depth of talent within the racing fraternity.
Among the distinguished individuals recognised for their contributions, Ryan Williams was hailed as the Most Improved Trainer, while Raddesh Roman was celebrated as the Most Improved Jockey, underscoring their dedication and skill in the sport.

The champions of 2023 were also duly honored, with Carlton Watson, Jason DaCosta, Reyan Lewis, Matthew Bennett, Steven Smith, Ham Stables Ltd, Soul Warrior, and Blufield emerging victorious in their respective categories, symbolizing excellence across various facets of the racing industry.
As the racing season progresses, the excitement continues to build, with recent victories such as SENSATIONAL MOVE in the Reggae Month Trophy and Raddesh Roman’s remarkable six wins in a single race day serving as a testament to the sport’s vibrancy.
Furthermore, racing enthusiasts can anticipate an exhilarating spectacle with the live broadcast of the 2024 Saudi Cup from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Saturday, February 24.
