As polls have officially closed in today (February 26) 2024 Local Government elections, voter turnout has already exceeded end-of-day figures in comparison to the last polls in 2016.
The Electoral Office of Jamaica (EOJ), in a voting update for 3:00 pm, released moments ago, noted that 22.93 per cent of eligible voters have already cast ballots.
It is a marginal improvement over the 2016 Local Government Elections, where comparatively 21.62 per cent turned out to vote.
Some 2,031,356 Jamaicans are registered to vote in the municipal election.
