Dancehall star Adidja ‘Vybz Kartel’ Palmer, the ‘Worl Boss’ and his three co-accused have been granted a retrial by The Judicial Committee of the Privy Council.

After spending 14 years in prison for the murder of Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams, Kartel and his co-accused had exhausted all legal options locally to gain freedom. The legal team representing Kartel and co-acused then turned to the UK-based Privy Council, which has ordered that the case be returned to the Jamaican Court of Appeal.

All the fans, chanting “Free Worl Boss” can now be excited as the pendulum of justice now swings in the DJ’s favour.

“The Judicial Committee of the Privy Council has concluded that the appeals should be allowed and the appellants’ convictions should be quashed on the ground of juror misconduct, and that the case should be remitted to the Court of Appeal of Jamaica to decide whether to order a retrial of the appellants for the murder of the deceased. Lord Lloyd-Jones gives the unanimous judgment of the board,” The Judicial Committee of the Privy wrote in the decision published on the court’s website.
