The leadership of the State-run Jamaica Urban Transit Company Limited (JUTC) says it is actively engaged in discussions with representatives from the University Allied Workers’ Union (UAWU) and Canopy Insurance to address concerns raised by staff.

Restive staff threatened strike action on Thursday (April 4), stemming from the proposed increase in health insurance premiums which was slated for April 1.

In a statement this morning, the company advised that arising from a meeting convened on Friday, health insurance coverage has been restored for one month at the old rates to facilitate further discussions.

The JUTC added that another meeting is scheduled for April 8.
