Real Madrid has announced the signing of French forward Kylian Mbappe for five seasons on Monday, June 6.

The 25-year-old left Paris Saint-Germain, the club’s record goalscorer with 256 goals in 308 appearances, at the end of this season on a free transfer.

The contract with Real Madrid is worth £12.8 million a year after tax, and Mbappe will receive a signing-on bonus of just over £85 million.

The football star took to social media to share his excitement.

“A dream come true. So happy and proud to join the club of my dream, @realmadrid. Nobody can understand how excited I am right now. I can’t wait to see you, Madridistas, and thanks for your unbelievable support. ¡Hala Madrid!” he said.

The La Liga club made an official statement on its website confirming the deal.

The 2018 World Cup winner joins just two days after Real Madrid won its 15th Champions League title to clinch the double, having also been crowned La Liga champions.

“Real Madrid CF and Kylian Mbappé have reached an agreement whereby he will be a Real Madrid player for the next five seasons.”
