Five things to know about Dr Sandra Swaby

Dr Sandra Swaby, board-certified cosmetic surgeon, health guru, and now a contestant in the Miss Universe Jamaica 2024 pageant, is a force not to be reckoned with.

From a very young age, Swaby knew that she wanted to become a doctor. She made this decision at age three and as a five-year-old, she created a five-year plan that she used to help her achieve her goals.

Unlike many of her peers, Swaby made her plans and stuck with them and those early plans is what allowed her to become the successful woman that she is today.

Here are five things that you must know about the incredible Dr Sandra Swaby.

1.     Young and adventurous.

As a teenager, Dr Swaby spent six weeks living with a tribe in the Amazon Rainforest, living life exactly how they would. They would hunt for food and water. She stated in an interview that sometimes they even drank pee if they did not have any water, and that she once tried it. She later travelled to Venezuela, Brazil and Colombia exploring and appreciating the cultures.

2.     Multilingual Swaby

Alongside English, Dr. Swaby is also fluent in Spanish and Portuguese. After doing her Undergraduate studies at the University of the West Indies in Zoology and Biochemistry she received a scholarship to study medicine in Cuba, which ultimately helped her to become fluent in Spanish. 

3.     Professional achievements

Dr Swaby is a board-certified cosmetic surgeon who founded Harmony Health Cosmetic Clinic, known not just for transforming body parts but promoting body positivity, self-love and care. She is very passionate about helping people feel good in their bodies and motivates them to stay as healthy as possible. 

4.     Public health contributions

Swaby has contributed to public health by developing the Cuban Jamaican Eye-Care Programme, and working as a public health advisor, liaising with USAID and the CDC. She is also a previous chairperson for the National Family Planning Board.

In her latest venture, Dr. Sandra Swaby is now a contestant in the Miss Jamaica Universe pageant. She proudly wears the sash of Miss Lifespan, now making her an ambassador for this popular bottled water company. As a cosmetic surgeon who is adamant on being and staying healthy, she is delighted to be the ambassador for Jamaica’s most favoured water brand, Lifespan. She sees this brand as an outlook of herself as they both promote health, wellness and longevity. 

This incredible 54-year-old woman continues to break barriers and sets new standards for women all over Jamaica while promoting women’s health, strength and empowerment. What will be her next venture?
