World famous podcaster Joe Rogan has added the now infamous actions of a contractor at Jamaica Zoo to the list of the “dumbest” moves he has ever seen.

The contractor, identified as Ricardo Jones, had a finger ripped off by a lion at the Lacovia, St Elizabeth-located attraction, after taunting the animal in an effort to amuse visitors to the site.

“Watch this dude’s finger get munched by a lion,” Rogan said as he watched the video during a recent appearance on the Flagrant 2 podcast with fellow comedians Andrew Schulz and Akaash Singh.

“This is the dumbest f*&%ing thing of all time,” added Rogan, who, along with the show hosts and their team of AlexxMedia and Mark Gagnon, was getting high on marijuana while watching gory videos and talking about the most dangerous animals in the world.

The consensus appeared to be that a grizzly bear is the most dangerous on land, while a shark is most dangerous in the water.

At the same time, when watching the video of the incident that occurred at Jamaica Zoo last month, the group of friends recoiled in both horror and joy at watching Santa Cruz the lion bite the contractor’s finger off.

“He fully deserves it,” said Singh in sentiments echoed by the others seated on the couch in Flagrant 2‘s posh new studio.

Gagnon, comparing the Jamaica Zoo incident to other videos of persons getting injured by animals, said “this one I feel a little bit better about”.

Jamaica Zoo has faced a wave of public criticism of its operations since the incident in May and, at the start of this month, the National Environment and Planning Agency (NEPA) indicated the attraction would be ordered closed.

NOTICE OF INTENTION TO SUSPEND

In a release on June 1, the operators of the zoo noted that they were aware of the issuance and publication of NEPA’s Notice of Intention to Suspend their current licence to operate.

The zoo however indicated it was “intent upon making any and all modifications as advised by the authorities”, and noted that the attraction is an important asset to Jamaica.

“The Jamaica Zoo is an important asset to Western Jamaica and the country on a whole, and it is our intention that this will continue to be the case for many years to come,” read the statement.
