Florida meteorologist became visibly emotional during a live broadcast as he updated viewers on the impending arrival of Hurricane Milton, expected to make landfall late on Wednesday, October 9, carrying life-threatening conditions, with winds reaching up to 160 mph.

John Morales, a long-time meteorologist at NBC 6 South Florida (WTVJ), struggled to contain his emotions during his 7 October broadcast.

As he described the escalating strength of the hurricane, his voice broke while acknowledging the storm’s rapid intensification.

Hurricane Milton, which has dropped 50 millibars in just 10 hours, is gaining momentum as it moves over the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico.

Morales called the situation “incredible” and “horrific,” with residents along Florida’s coastline bracing for potential devastation. The broadcast came just weeks after Hurricane Helene impacted the Gulf Coast, heightening anxiety about Milton’s trajectory and damage potential.

Authorities have urged residents to evacuate vulnerable areas, warning of severe flooding and damage to infrastructure.
