Jamaican Olympian Aleen Bailey and her husband, Joseph Taylor, are expecting their first child together. They hosted an intimate baby shower attended by close family and friends on Sunday, October 13.
Among the attendees were collegiate coach and long-time friend Soyini Thompson, as well as former Jamaican thrower Zara Northover, who officiated the couple’s wedding in November 2023.
Bailey, a decorated athlete with an illustrious career on the track, has long been a source of national pride. With seven Carifta Games gold medals to her name, she became an international sensation as part of Jamaica’s 4x100m relay team, winning gold at the 2004 Athens Olympics. She also earned another relay gold at the 2009 World Athletics Championships in Berlin. Bailey’s achievements in track and field have made her one of Jamaica’s most celebrated sprinters.
As Bailey and Taylor begin this exciting new phase, awaiting the arrival of their first child, their circle seems full of love and anticipation for the little one’s debut.
