Dunbeholden get first win of JPL season, leaders MoBay United and Portmore draw 0-0

Portmore United remained second in the Wray and Nephew Premier League on 13 points from seven games.

Dunbeholden registered their first win of the Wray and Nephew Jamaica Premier League clipping Harbour View 1-0 while leaders Montego Bay United and Portmore battled to a 0-0 stalemate.

Playing at home at the Dunbeholden Sports Complex, Leo Campbell scored the all-important goal in the 14th minute as the St Catherine-based team finally secured a win in this their fifth game of the season. Dunbeholden remained at the bottom of the league in 14th spot on three points while Harbour View are ninth on seven points following their fourth defeat from seven games.

Leaders Montego Bay United and Portmore United played to a 0-0 draw and remained top of the league. Montego Bay are first with 14 points while Portmore United are just behind in second on 13 points. Both teams have played seven games.

Veteran Andre Clennon scored a dramatic 90th-minute goal enabling Humble Lion to beat Molynes United 1-0 and move to seven points in the ninth spot.

Molynes United, which was suffering their fifth game from seven matches, remained second from bottom in 13th spot on four points.

At Drax Hall in St Ann, home team Mount Pleasant FA edged Tivoli Gardens 1-0 as in-form player Kimoni Bailey’s found the clincher in minute 69.

The Theodore Whitmore-coached Mount Pleasant are up to fourth on 12 points while Tivoli Gardens are 11th with just five points.

The competition continues Monday night with a double-header at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex. In the curtain raiser at 5:00 pm, Chapelton Maroons sitting in 10th spot on six points take on third-placed Waterhouse FC on 13 points.

Then in the feature encounter at 7:30 pm, the promoted Racing United in 12th spot on four points play a Vere Phoenix United team in ninth spot on seven points.
