Defamed actor Jonathan Majors and his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari, have reached an agreement to dismiss her civil claims of defamation and assault, according to court filings. The resolution follows Majors’ misdemeanour assault conviction earlier this year.
Jabbari filed her lawsuit in March, alleging that Majors physically abused her and later defamed her by denying the allegations during an interview with ABC News. The dismissal, stipulated by both parties, did not include a stated reason for the decision.
Majors was convicted in April of misdemeanour third-degree assault and second-degree harassment after a New York trial. The court sentenced him to a 52-week batterers’ intervention programme in Los Angeles, mandatory mental health counselling, and a no-contact order with Jabbari. He was acquitted of two other charges, including aggravated harassment.
The fallout from the trial has been significant for the actor. Majors, previously hailed as a rising Hollywood star, was dropped by his management and PR agencies. Marvel Studios also removed him from future films, including his prominent role as Kang in Avengers: Kang Dynasty.
Jabbari’s lawsuit coincided with Majors’ sentencing, amplifying the legal and public scrutiny surrounding the case. Despite the split verdict in the criminal trial, Jabbari maintained her claims in the civil suit until the settlement was reached.
“I need the Jonathan Majors apologies as loud as the disrespect was!” one commenter wrote on X. This sentiment is being shared by fans of Major’s who felt that he was unjustly treated by those who publicly shunned the actor.
Majors, who has faced both legal repercussions and career setbacks since the allegations surfaced has yet to put out a statement since the announcement. However, the lack of disclosure about the terms of the agreement leaves questions about how the dispute was resolved.
Majors’ representatives have yet to comment on the settlement, and Jabbari has also remained silent publicly.
