IDB Invest has signed its first data-sharing agreement with LinkedIn, a leading professional online network, under the Development Data Partnership (DDP).

This collaboration will grant IDB Invest access to LinkedIn’s data, enabling a deeper analysis of labour market trends related to green jobs, gender equality, and the energy transition across Latin America and the Caribbean. The agreement was announced during the recent UN Conference of the Parties on Climate Change (COP29).

By accessing this private-sector data through the Development Data Partnership (DDP) platform, IDB Invest aims to strengthen its ability to monitor and measure the impact of its projects, particularly in assessing social and climate risks. This strategic use of big data will also support informed decision-making to enhance the social and environmental outcomes of its operations.

The Development Data Partnership (DDP) platform is a collaboration between international organizations and tech companies that promotes the efficient and responsible use of third-party data in research and international development. The partnership does so by bringing together Data Partners and Development Partners, and adopting standardized legal, IT, and governance procedures to facilitate the exchange of information.

This agreement aligns with IDB Invest’s new business model, Originate-to-Share, which focuses on achieving greater impact and scale across the region. Access to big data will help generate and share knowledge from its operational work and inform decision-making.
