Communities across St Andrew Eastern were feted last Sunday (December 15) during the ‘Partnership and Love’ Christmas Parade hosted by Patricia Duncan Sutherland, Opposition MP-candidate for the constituency.

The parade showcased the pulse of local culture with traditional Jonkunnu performances, energetic music, and family-friendly fun, including a highly anticipated grab bag for children and a visit from Santa Claus.

More than just a celebration, the event underscored Duncan Sutherland’s commitment to fostering a stronger, more inclusive St. Andrew Eastern.

“The Christmas Parade was not just about the festivities—it was part of our commitment to building connection, partnership and love in communities across the constituency,” said Duncan Sutherland.

The parade left a significant mark on the community’s morale as residents expressed their gratitude for the sense of togetherness fostered by the event.

Joy Francis, a resident of Chamber’s Lane in the constituency shared, “It’s been a tough year for so many of us, but seeing the children’s faces light up meeting Santa and enjoying the festivities was priceless. This parade brought so much joy to our community.”

Calls for the parade to become an annual tradition echoed throughout the day, reflecting the deep appreciation for the initiative.

“This is something we should do every Christmas. It just makes the place feel nice and merry! I wasn’t feeling much Christmas spirit but after Sunday, especially seeing the children having fun – my mood changed,” said Keisha Lawrence from the Goldsmith Villa Community.

“So many Jamaicans are dreaming of a happy Christmas season but not everyone can afford to make it merry. I am happy to be able to bring that dream to life for some of our families in St. Andrew Eastern. The love and joy we experienced on Sunday is only the beginning,” Duncan Sutherland added.
