The 42-year-old Lobban was said to have harboured ambitions of being the sole don in Spanish Town.

He was cut down in the vicinity of the Six Miles bridge in what was described as a running gun battle with a team from the Specialized Operations Division. The lawmen were reportedly travelling in unmarked service vehicles when they received information that the now-deceased, who was featured as a person of interest from the Tawes Pen area of Spanish Town was travelling in a grey Toyota Rav4 motorcar heading into Kingston.

The team reportedly went in pursuit of the vehicle and eventually caught up to it in the vicinity of the Ferry Police Station, where the lead service vehicle signalled the driver of the Toyota Rav 4 to stop to no avail.

The driver of the RAV4 reportedly sped up and drove onto the bridge leading to Washington Boulevard where he lost control of the vehicle and sideswiped a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado. He then hit a pedestrian who was walking along the roadway, before coming to a stop on the barrier where the service vehicle that was giving chase collided with the Toyota Rav4.

The driver and the passenger travelling in the Rav4 reportedly exited the motor vehicle with firearms in their hands and opened gunfire at the police officers, who returned fire.

The driver and the passenger ran off the roadway and onto a pathway in the New Haven community and the officers gave chase on foot whilst in a gun battle with the men. When the shooting subsided a man was seen laying on the ground with what appeared to be gunshot wounds. The other man made good his escape on foot in the area.

The injured man was transported to the Kingston Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 10:58 pm.

The injured pedestrian was rushed to the Kingston Public Hospital. His condition is currently unknown.
