With Love, Meghan has premiered on Netflix, detailing the many different sides of Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, but not everyone is feeling it.

The show is described as an American lifestyle television series hosted and executive produced by Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, and premiered on Netflix on March 4, 2025.

Under Michael Steed’s direction, the first season of the series offers a fresh take on the lifestyle programming genre, mixing practical how-to’s with candid conversations. Meghan has a more playful and unpretentious demeanour on the show and shares personal tips and tricks aimed at inspiring viewers to bolster creativity and beauty in everyday life.

Throughout the series, the Duchess invites both familiar faces and new friends to join her in a variety of activities, from cooking to gardening. The show encourages viewers to get involved and experience the joys of creating beauty, even in the most unexpected moments. With Meghan’s easygoing and relatable approach, With Love, Meghan promises to provide a mix of insightful advice and lighthearted fun for audiences seeking a more authentic and relaxed approach to lifestyle programming.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

It is a simple format and is incredibly inoffensive. So, why the hate?

The ones who get it, love it or are largely indifferent. But the ones who hate it enough to have it trending on X, I believe they hate the host, not the show, and why? She’s Meghan ‘Half-Black’ Markle, that is all.

The nay-sayers have noted that she is unreliable on the show, but how can she relate to the common person wholly when she is married to a Duke and is a Duchess herself? She has a different life experience than the majority of the world. However, on this show, you feel none of that. She is simply herself (For TV at least) and again, having very inoffensive conversations about life and plants and cooking, come on!

Take a look at this comment:

Link Lauren is an American TikToker, musician, and British Royal Family commentator— he’s made a ‘job’ of talking about a family for engagement and views. I am highlighting his post to make the argument that the ‘keyboard warriors’ on social media know they will get engagement for joining the hate train just to join the excitement.

Insofar as people can gauge whether or not they hate a person who has done nothing to them on Rotten Tomatoes, the series has a 38 per cent approval rating. On Metacritic, it has an average of 37 out of 100. With that, I can admit the show isn’t the most entertaining to watch, but to me, the hate boils down to she’s a Duchess, half-black, and that makes the haters upset.
