
Knutsford Express Services, Jamaicans intra-island stage coach and logistic provider is seeing subdued passenger numbers, which has hit its bottom line with profitability dwindling for the latest quarter.
For the third quarter ended February 28, 2025 Knutsford felt the pinch from the effects of Jamaica’s subdued passenger arrival numbers, which has been lingering generally. This resulted in revenues being flat for quarter given inflation, closing the period at J$593 million, which is a small rise of 4.8% from the J$566 million posted a year ago.
For the combine three quarters revenues increased marginally by 7.3% from moving from J$1.53 billion to J$1.64 billion for the period under review. The company’s ongoing efforts to bolster its fleet of coaches resulted in total assets growing by over 10.7% in the third quarter over last year moving from J$1.92 billion to J$2.11 billion in 2025.
Profitability tumbling
Net profit for the third quarter went down by 54.9% dropping from J$111 million to J$49 million in 2025. For the nine months, net profit contracted by 36.8% from J$269 million to $170 million.
Operating profit declined by 24% to J$248.95 million compared to J$329.48 million for the nine months ended February 28, 2024. In an effort to bolster its operations, the plans to deepen it efforts to further digitize or processes to bring improved efficiencies to our operations and importantly enhance both customer and employee satisfaction.
Year to date, Administrative and General Expenses went up to $1.39 billion (2024: $1.20 billion), representing a 16% year-over-year increase.
