Canadian modular and portable housing solutions provider, Hear At Last Holdings (HRAL) is coming to Jamaica with its innovative line of portable homes, with one order already made by an unnamed prominent Jamaican real estate developer.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Our Today from his head office in Canada, HRAL President, Peter Wanner confirmed that his company has secured its first purchase order for portable homes, which includes a K50 modular home. This K50 modular home is for sales presentation purposes with potential for up to 100 units to be delivered for the interested hotel, which will be teaming with National Housing Trust (NHT) under its Tourism Workers Housing Programme.

Initial delivery is scheduled to begin in 60 days. The portable homes are specifically designed for rapid deployment and community development, addressing local housing needs in Jamaica

Utilisation of units

The Jamaican developer plans to utilise the units in a series of residential and mixed-use projects aimed at addressing local housing needs. HRAL views this as a strategic entry into the Caribbean market, offering sustainable and cost-effective housing solutions.

This order marks a significant milestone for HRAL, as it expands into the Caribbean market, delivering sustainable, cost-effective housing solutions designed for rapid deployment and community development. Discussions are already underway regarding future orders and expanded partnerships throughout the region.

When pressed as to when the first shipment will be made, Wanner told Our Today that this determination will be made during the course of this week, declaring that his company is intent on working with the Jamaican government to address homelessness in the island.

According to the HRAL President, “We are excited to take this important step into the Caribbean and proud to support forward-thinking developers in Jamaica who are tackling housing challenges with innovative solutions. Our portable homes are designed with quality, mobility, and sustainability in mind – a perfect match for the needs of this growing market.”

Positive and negative spin-offs

There are several positive spin-offs for HRAL’s entry into Jamaica such as the fact that it is the company first entry in the Caribbean having secured an outright sales contract with a Jamaican developer, potential for up to 100 units order expansion, quick 60-day delivery timeline demonstrates operational readiness and strategic positioning in Jamaica’s hotel and NHT  housing programmes.

The negative spin-off stems from the fact that this first order is a limited one, including the one K50  demonstration unit and that future orders are still under discussion without firm commitments.

HRAL provides modular housing and portable infrastructure solutions designed to meet the needs of diverse communities around the globe. With a focus on innovation, sustainability and social impact, the company aims to redefine how affordable housing is delivered and deployed.
