Scotiabank continues to affirm its role as a key facilitator of economic growth by supporting the expansion of local businesses.
Last quarter, Scotiabank announced a 7% increase in its commercial portfolio over the previous year, as at April 2025 and signalled its intent to further streamline banking for business customers.
The bank said it remained committed to empowering businesses with the necessary financial resources to scale operations and contribute to Jamaica’s business sector.
One of the notable beneficiaries of Scotiabank’s financial solutions is Jamaica Packaging Industries Limited (JPI). The company recently celebrated the opening of its new location on Spanish Town Road, marking a significant milestone in its 70th anniversary.
Through Scotiabank’s support, JPI successfully relocated, acquired modern equipment and expanded its operations.
Speaking last month at the official opening of the new state-of-the-art corrugated packaging plant, Audrey Tugwell Henry, President and CEO of Scotiabank, applauded JPI’s achievements, particularly its focus on sustainability. “Not only has JPI increased its production capacity, but it has done so in a way that positively impacts the environment. Recycling production waste and implementing a state-of-the-art wastewater effluent treatment system demonstrate a commendable commitment to sustainability,” she stated.
JPI’s Country Manager Gary Cole also shared these sentiments, emphasising the value of the new facility.
“This marks a new era for JPI. By consolidating all operations at one location, we can now offer greater efficiency, faster turnaround times, and world-class quality. We take pride in producing cartons that meet the highest international standards, right here in Jamaica.”
Scotiabank remains one of the leading commercial banks in Jamaica, receiving numerous global awards for 2024 and 2025, reaffirming the Bank’s reputation for excellence in financial services.
