Jelanie Morgan, a 6-foot-4-inch shooting guard, is on a mission to help represent Jamaica on the global basketball stage, not just as a player, but as an ambassador for culture, pride, and untold stories.

He wants to inspire the next wave of Jamaican athletes to dream bigger, train harder, and believe that they can make their mark internationally, just like his musical family has done.

Beyond basketball, Jelanie is passionate about giving back to his community. Whether it’s mentoring younger players or speaking on the importance of discipline, education, and cultural pride, he sees part of his purpose to uplift others.

He believes that sports can be a powerful tool for connection, growth, and change—not just in Jamaica, but around the world.

Jelanie is a junior attending Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and worked out for 2 days at the National Stadium with the national team on July 5th and 6th. His training involved player evaluations, shooting drills, and scrimmaging.

Jelanie said: “Being able to try out for the national team for a chance to represent my country is a dream come true for me. I have been working on it for a while now, and to see it come together is surreal.
