The Jamaica Labour Party (JLP), eyeing a third consecutive term in government, officially kicked off its campaign with a gospel concert on Sunday, celebrating its achievements since taking office in 2020.
Held under the banner of gratitude and faith, the JLP Area Council Two Gospel Concert saw several party leaders take the stage to thank workers and supporters for their continued belief, patience, and commitment to the party’s vision.
Member of Parliament (MP) for St Mary Western, Robert Montague, addressed the crowd with a message centred on growth and national transformation. “I want you, as you go about and you get your good ideas, to forward those ideas to the party so we can put them in our manifesto and present it to the people of Jamaica, and we can say to the people of Jamaica, ‘These are the plans that we have for you.’ Plans to prosper you and plans to make you good, wealthy and strong because the Jamaica Labour Party is on a mission to move Jamaica from poverty to prosperity, and we have been doing a good job,” he said.
Montague highlighted the administration’s accomplishments while stressing that much more work lies ahead.

“If you check our record, we have things that we have done, and others will tell you. We’re looking forward because the work is still not done,” he said.
Montague outlined a list of government priorities aimed at improving citizens’ quality of life. “We have much more to do. We have more land titles to give out. We have more roads to fix. We have more water supply to sort out. We want to include more people in the social pension. More people on PATH. We want to send more people to farm work. We want to train more young people in HEART. We want to certify our people. We want to get jobs for our people.”
The MP also emphasised the party’s long-term commitment to Jamaica’s development and national identity. “We have an interest in the future of this country, and that is why we say we choose Jamaica. We chose Jamaica because we are Jamaicans and we love Jamaica. So we choose Jamaica, and if you choose Jamaica, you must choose the Jamaica Labour Party,” he said.
