Pump price regimen climbs for second-straight week

Jamaican industry and the motoring public will have to dig deeper into their pockets this week as State-owned refinery, Petrojam, is raising pump prices for a second-straight cycle. 

Petrojam, in its closely watched petroleum product price index, slapped a J$1.04 increase on 87-octane gasolene, which opens at a new baseline price of J$161.78 effective midnight Thursday (July 17).

This week’s regimen increase was consistent across the commodity index, excluding automotive diesel and its ultra-low-sulphur counterpart, being the most pronounced in heavy fuel and kerosene oils, which were both revised upward by J$2.94 and J$1.64, respectively.

It is expected that retailers will add their respective mark-ups to the announced prices.
